Can Lyro change data in Snowflake, or only read it?

Most of the toolkit only reads: Describe Table, Explore Columns, Show Databases, Show Schemas, and Show Tables all return metadata or sampled values. Run Query executes whatever SQL it is given, so whether anything can be written is decided by the privileges on the Snowflake role you connect, not by the integration.

Which databases and schemas can Lyro see?

Only the ones the connected Snowflake role has access to. Show Databases and Show Schemas enumerate exactly that set, and Run Query sets the database and schema context before executing, so both must exist and be reachable for the role or the call fails.

Does Lyro need our table names configured in advance?

No. It can start from Show Databases, narrow with Show Schemas, then Show Tables, which returns row counts and sizes alongside the names, and finish with Describe Table for the column layout. The path to a table is discovered rather than hardcoded.

How is this different from a scheduled Snowflake report?

A scheduled report answers a question someone anticipated. Lyro composes the lookup while the conversation is still open, describing a table and sampling its columns to get the query right before running it, and hands the conversation to a human agent with full history when the question needs judgment rather than a number.
