Canvas

Canvas MCP integration

Answers deadline and grade questions from live course data, messages students inside Canvas, and posts scores and feedback to submissions.

573actions available

Three actions you can hand over today

Every action runs live through MCP. Nothing to build, nothing to maintain.

  • Grade or comment on a submission

Lyro records a grade, comment, or status change on a student's assignment submission directly from a conversation. Instructors no longer have to open Canvas separately to log the same feedback.

  • Post discussion entry or reply

Lyro posts a reply into a Canvas discussion thread on a student's behalf. A question raised in chat gets answered where the rest of the class can see it, with no second manual step.

  • Find recipients

Lyro looks up which users, courses, or groups a person is allowed to message in Canvas before sending anything further. Nobody has to guess who is a valid recipient or risk a failed message.

How businesses use Canvas + Lyro

Each card is one request a support team gets, and the Canvas actions Lyro runs to close it.

  • Answer what is due and where a grade stands

Lyro reads the student's current grades, lists the submissions they have missed, and checks what is coming up, so a question about standing gets the gradebook's answer rather than an estimate.

  • Reach the student inside Canvas, not a side channel

Lyro opens a Canvas conversation with the student, adds the follow-up message to the same thread, and pulls in the instructor when the question needs one, so the exchange stays attached to the course.

  • Keep assignments and feedback current

Lyro creates an assignment from an agreed brief, edits due dates when a deadline moves, and writes a score or a comment back onto a submission once a marker has decided it.

  • Surface what the course already announced

Before answering, Lyro checks the course announcements and calendar, so a change posted last week is repeated accurately instead of contradicted, and can add the date the student needs to their calendar.

How it works

Get started in 3 steps

Connect once, then just ask. There is no workflow builder to learn and nothing to maintain — Lyro reads the Canvas actions it has and picks the ones a request needs.

  1. 01

    Connect Canvas

Authorize the Canvas account your team already uses — one consent screen, no API keys, no mapping tables. Lyro can only do what you granted that account, and you can disconnect it at any time.

  2. 02

Tell your agent what you need

Describe the job the way you would hand it to a teammate. Lyro maps it to the Canvas actions that close it and chains as many as the request needs.

  3. 03

    Watch it work

The agent runs the actions inside the conversation the customer is already in, so nobody copies data between tabs and your team can take over at any point.

Everything else about Canvas

Setup, permissions, and the limits of what Lyro can do inside Canvas.

  • The Canvas user whose token you connect. List All Courses and Get Assignments For A Specific Course return the same scope that user sees in Canvas, so an instructor token reaches their own sections while an account-level token reaches the wider institution.
