The role attached to the credential you connect. Show Databases, Show Schemas and Show Tables each return only the objects that role has access privileges on, so scoping is done in Snowflake with a purpose-built role rather than configured separately on the Lyro side.

Can Lyro create or alter tables, not just read them?

Yes, if the role allows it. Execute SQL supports DDL such as CREATE and ALTER alongside SELECT and DML, so a read-only connection is worth using when you only want Lyro answering questions from existing data.

What happens to a query that takes minutes to return?

It becomes a handle rather than a blocked call. Execute SQL returns a statement handle, Check Statement Status polls it for status and results, and Cancel Statement Execution stops a run that is no longer needed - so a long query does not hold a conversation open.

Do the status actions read our account or Snowflake's public page?

The public page. Get Status Summary, Get Component Status, Get Unresolved Incidents and the maintenance actions all query status.snowflake.com, so they describe the Snowflake service rather than your warehouse's own utilization or credit consumption, which this toolkit does not expose.
