Both are available and the choice matters. Create Document with status set to pending queues generation and returns immediately, while Create Document Sync blocks until the render finishes, which is the right call when the customer is sitting in the conversation waiting for the file.

Which rendering engine does a new template use?

Whichever you pick. List PDF Engines returns the available engines with their IDs, version names, numeric versions, and deprecation status, and the guidance is to use the highest non-deprecated version. Lyro can read that list before Create Template so a new template does not start life on a deprecated engine.

How does Lyro find the right template in a large account?

List Template Cards lists a workspace's templates with folder filtering, pagination, and sorting by identifier or date, and List Workspaces returns the workspaces the authenticated user can reach. Passing folders set to none restricts the result to root-folder templates.
