Does adding a signer to a live contract email them straight away?

Not necessarily. Create Signer queues the addition asynchronously and returns a queued status, and no invitation goes out unless the contract's settings are configured to send one. Update Signer behaves the same way: changing a name, email, or mobile number does not re-send the contract.

How does Lyro get hold of the signed document?

Through Get Contract, which returns the contract's status, its signer information, the values signers entered, and the signed PDF. Generate Contract PDF Preview is the other route: it renders the document and sends a webhook notification carrying a download URL, which is useful before signing as well as after.

Can Lyro manage who is allowed to edit a template?

Yes. Add Template Collaborator grants editing access with an optional email invitation, List Template Collaborators returns each collaborator's ID, name, email, and editor URL, and Remove Template Collaborator revokes that access. What Lyro can reach is bounded by the account the API key belongs to.

How is this different from wiring eSignatures.io up through Zapier?

A Zap runs a fixed sequence when a trigger fires. Lyro decides which actions to call while the conversation is still open - checking a contract's status, correcting the signer's email, resending, or withdrawing the request - and can chain several of them in one exchange rather than following a single predefined path.
