Does an answer from Needle come with its source?

Yes. Search Collection performs semantic search inside a named collection and returns ranked results with source references attached, so Lyro can point at the document a statement came from rather than asserting it. That is what makes the answer checkable by whoever asked.

Can Lyro read a document's text straight from a file listing?

No. List Collection Files returns file metadata and file URLs only, not the document text, so the content has to be fetched separately. Get File Download URL issues a short-lived signed URL for that, and it expires quickly enough that it has to be used immediately.

What does Lyro report for a collection with nothing in it?

That it is empty. Get Collection Stats treats a zero document count as a valid response rather than an error, so Lyro says a collection has nothing indexed instead of failing or implying the collection is missing. Index size and timestamps come back alongside the count.

How does Lyro pick the right collection when two share a name?

By ID, not by name. Needle allows similar collection names to coexist, so List Collections is used to confirm the correct collection_id before any read or write runs against it. Get Collection then returns that one collection's name, creation date, and search query count.
